The Greatest 5 Cinematic Cats of All Time

In praise of Captain Marvel star Goose, we have conjured up a short list of the most fantastic felines in film.

1. Cat from Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961)

This orange tabby, who is the only cat in history that has won the PATSY award (the animal kingdom's equal of an Oscar) twice, as Holly Golightly (Audrey Hepburn)'s pet or as she calls him, poor slob without a name, garnered lots of attention on screen playing Cat in Breakfast at Tiffany's (1961).

2. Berlioz, Marie, and Toulouse from The Aristocats (1970)

Disney's The Aristocats boasts several beloved cat characters - the dainty mother Duchess, the feral tomcat Thomas O'Malley, and a trio of French kittens. The cats are all adorable and the songs are catchy.

3. Jiji from Kiki's Delivery Service (1989)

Jiji is Kiki's pet cat and her closest companion in Kiki's Delivery Service, directed by Hayao Miyazaki of Studio Ghibli. The cute, loquacious black cat is cautious, acts humble and is always ready to help Kiki.

4. Mr Cat from A Cat in Paris (2010)

Leading a thrilling double life, the feline star is both a loving pet and a criminal accomplice. The shrewd black cat is called Dino by a young girl whose name is Zoé and simply Mr Cat by Nico, an accomplished thief. Paris is his playground. As the Hitchcockian plot unfolds, it makes him all the more alluring.

5. Goose from Captain Marvel (2019)

Another orange tabby - you may have noticed Carol Danvers' furry friend - totally stole our hearts in Captain Marvel. Goose, who is actually an alien species called a Flerken, is the latest in a proud line of great cinematic felines.
